JOHNNY NIX | SEnior pastor

Johnny Nix is the Senior Pastor of Pickett’s Mill Baptist Church. Pastor Johnny was saved at the age 5 during a revival service in Eddyville, KY. Johnny was called into the ministry when he was just 10 years old. Since the age of 10, he has conducted 150 or more meetings per year. He has pastored four churches throughout Georgia and Tennessee before coming to Pickett's Mill. Most recently, he pastored the First Baptist Church of Wartburg, Tennessee, where they saw incredible growth during his tenure.

Johnny holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Theology and a Master's Degree from the Crown College of the Bible. He also holds a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Ministry and a Ph.D in psychology and counseling from Bethany Divinity College and Seminary. He and his wife Hannah were high school sweethearts, and have been married for over 20 years. Johnny and Hannah have three beautiful daughters: Faith, Hope, and Joy!

Pastor Johnny loves pastoring, Georgia Football, the Atlanta Braves, and being in the outdoors. His favorite passage of Scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

 

ALEXANDER SHARPE | STUDENT PASTOR

Alexander Sharpe is the Student Pastor at Pickett’s Mill Baptist Church. Alexander was born and raised in Columbia, S.C. and was saved during elementary school during a revival service. He was called to preach in his high school years, due to the godly influences the Lord blessed him with during his teenage years.

Alexander later attended the University of South Carolina for one year before moving to California to attend West Coast Baptist College. He spent four years obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree of Religious Education in Pastoral Theology, with a minor in Biblical Counseling. In 2018, he and his wife Grace were married, and came to serve at Pickett’s Mill Baptist Church just two weeks later.

Alexander loves to preach and teach God’s Word, and has a heart to see this generation become sincere followers of Jesus Christ. He oversees the Unified Student Ministry at Pickett’s Mill Baptist Church and faithfully serves alongside his sweet wife Grace. His life’s verse is Psalm 40:8, which reads, “I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, the law is within my heart.”

 

MINISTRY LEADERS

Justin Ballew | Minister of Music

Justin Ballew began serving as the Minister of Music of Pickett’s Mill Baptist Church in June of 2021. Justin was saved at the age of 7 during Sunday School at Pickett’s Mill Baptist Church, where he has attended and was actively involved for nearly 20 years. Justin has served in music ministries in both Georgia and Texas in addition to his vocational role as a music teacher.

Justin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Truett McConnell University, where he and his wife, Taylor, met. Justin and Taylor were married in 2017.

Justin enjoys spending time with friends and family, as well as making music with others. His favorite passage of Scripture is
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven"

 

HEather reynolds | interim CHILDREN’s director

Heather Reynolds began serving as the Interim Children’s Director in April 2021 at Pickett’s Mill. Heather was saved at age 12 during a revival service at her childhood church, First Baptist Church of Dallas, Georgia. Heather came to Pickett’s Mill as a sophomore in high school in 2005 and has been actively involved in our children’s ministries ever since, including VBS, summer camp and teaching Children’s Church.

Heather holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University, as well as a Master’s Degree in the same field from Piedmont. Heather currently teaches the 1st grade at Northside Elementary in Paulding County.

Heather met her husband Spencer at Pickett’s Mill during high school, and they married in 2011. They have a daughter, Haley and their family enjoys teaching, spending time with family and friends, Tennessee football and the outdoors. Heather’s life verse is Micah 6:8, “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you, but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?”

GRACE SHARPE | OFFICE MANAGER

Grace has been serving as the office manager at Pickett’s Mill since January of 2020.  Grace was saved at the age of 9, and has served in her local church all of her life. She graduated from Solid Rock Christian School in Berlin, N.J., and received her Bachelor’s degree from Vision Baptist College in May of 2018.  She previously worked in her college’s deaf ministry and is fluent in American Sign Language.

Grace moved to Georgia with her husband Alexander soon after they were married in August of 2018. Grace enjoys spending time with family, meeting new people, and serving in the youth group with her husband. Grace’s life verse is Psalm 84:10-11, “For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.  For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.”

Jamie Gastley | ministry coordinator

Jamie Gastley is the Ministry Coordinator at Pickett’s Mill Baptist Church. Jamie came to Pickett’s Mill in February of 2001. She came to know Christ at age 6 in her home state of Tennessee, where she grew up as a pastor’s daughter. She moved to Georgia while in college and later made it her home. Jamie has served at Pickett’s Mill Baptist Church for many years as Children’s Director, and recently became the church Ministry Coordinator, where she organizes and assists our ministry events, in addition to being church pianist.

Jamie attended Union University, Tift College and Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. Jamie and her husband Danny have three children: Brittany (and Anthony) Millsap, Spencer (and Heather) Reynolds, and Jared (and Krista) Reynolds. Danny and Jamie are “Lolli and Pop” to grandchildren Kamden, Haley, Brantley, and Emmett.

Jamie loves decorating, spending time with family, shopping, Tennessee football, Autumn in the mountains and hanging out with the kids of Pickett’s Mill! Her life’s verse is found in 3 John 1:4, which reads, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
